Disposable food mentality

Current figures from Tyrol: Around thirty percent of Tyrolean food purchases end up in the garbage on average. The private household has replaced grocery and canteen kitchens: Forty percent of the food waste comes from the household, reports the district newspaper Kufstein.

In addition, the food is often disposed of incorrectly. "Depending on the location, up to 15 to 16 percent of edible food ends up in residual waste in the region, although it would actually belong in organic waste," says the media report.
