WIDADO – Buying second hand becomes very easy

Second hand is a trend, and not just since yesterday. Buying things used has always been a sensible alternative to buying new, as it conserves resources. And that is becoming increasingly important. In order to make a sustainable lifestyle very easy, WIDADO, a new, social online shop for second-hand products, was created. With a voucher, Option readers buy cheaper now!

The most sustainable product is the one that already exists! Everyone at WIDADO agrees on that. But who or what is WIDADO? - The sounding Austrian name (dialect for "back there") describes a new online shop for re-use goods from over 20 social organizations in Austria. WIDADO makes it easy for consumers to shop sustainably and socially. The association Re-Use Austria (formerly RepaNet) developed WIDADO, since autumn 2022 there has been a new online shopping option for customers.

On www.widado.com Since then, customers have been able to browse and conveniently order re-use goods - from clothing to decoration to furniture. WIDADO is an association of social and charitable organizations in Austria. In contrast to purchasing from private second-hand companies, the income generated on WIDADO has added value: Whoever buys on WIDADO supports a social purpose.

In order to make the variety of 146 reuse shops available to everyone and everywhere, well-known social enterprises are now offering their products in the reuse online shop WIDADO. These include institutions of nationally known organizations such as Caritas, Volkshilfe and Rotes Kreuz as well as a selection of regionally active companies such as Soziale Betriebe Kärnten, Iduna, Gwandolina and many more. The launch of the online shop means a major joint digitization step for the organizations.

Second hand is trendy – available everywhere with WIDADO

“Second hand is an ever-growing trend, while e-commerce is booming at the same time. Therefore, with the merger of 26 Austrian organizations on WIDADO, we are now heralding a new era for re-use in Austria. WIDADO is doubly useful: products are kept in circulation for longer, and all purchases benefit the organizations.” says WIDADO project manager Peter Wagner (RepaNet) happily.

Social Affairs Minister Johannes Rauch underscores the social added value: “WIDADO combines digitization and the circular economy with poverty reduction. In this phase of rising prices, we must ensure that people have quick and easy access to the most important goods in as many areas as possible. WIDADO can make a contribution to this.”

WIDADO means climate protection and social added value
