Cradle to Cradle at the 1st Vienna MehrWeg trade fair

"Plastic - with or without?" - This is the motto of the 1st Vienna MehrWeg-Messe (https://mehrwegmesse.at/) at the 27. and 28.11.2020. The Cradle to Cradle Regional Group (C2C RG) Vienna plays a crucial role in this. Due to the current Covid-19 measures, the 1st Vienna MehrWeg trade fair will take place exclusively digitally. The focus is on a central problem: most plastics are not recyclable. This leads to huge amounts of plastic waste, especially in the oceans, which is fatal for the environment. Pollutants in plastics are also harmful to human health, which is unfortunately still far too seldom considered.

During the fair, C2C RG Vienna shows how this problem can be solved and provides impetus for questions such as: What does it take to implement a closed reusable or deposit system in Austria?

The trade fair program is as diverse as the potential solutions. A varied mixture of impulse lectures, workshops and discussions creates a platform for inspiration and dialogue. Another highlight are the digital exhibition stands made possible by the organizer. The C2C RG is also represented with a booth and looks forward to networking and exciting discussions.

Fair day 1

The fair starts on Friday, November 27.11th. at 19:00 p.m. with a brief welcome and a subsequent opening discussion. In addition to the C2C RG Vienna, representatives from the Green Economy, Global2000, the WWF and EPEA Switzerland sit on the digital podium. The RG spokespersons, Kate Sowa and Raphaela Hellmayr, present C2C and the activities of the RG and discuss plastics, reusable and deposit systems and recyclability.

Fair day 2

On Saturday, November 28.11th A full-day program awaits you. C2C RG Vienna offers two free workshops. The first workshop deals with product design for people and the environment - a beginner's program for everyone who wants to know what exactly Cradle to Cradle is.

The second workshop looks at the question of what it takes to close the loops according to the C2C design concept for plastics and is aimed more at C2C connoisseurs.

In order to sort the many inputs at the end of the day, the results of the two days of the fair are summarized. In the final discussion, the participants can reflect on the problems surrounding the topic of plastics and the potential of circulating cycles.
