We throw 300 Euro in the bin

Every year, 577.000 tonnes of flawless food are wasted in Austria. According to the Institute for Waste Management, bread, sweets and bakery products as well as fruits and vegetables are the most frequently disposed of. This food waste costs the Austrians almost 300 Euro per household per year, which are simply thrown away. Extrapolated to the whole of Austria, food in the amount of approx. 300 million also ends up in the garbage bin in out-of-house catering. These numbers today send out the operators of the app "Too Good To Go".

Food waste is a waste of resources and thus harms the climate. And who wants to throw 300 Euro into the bin? So we should be careful to handle food carefully and appreciate it again.
