Inquiry Yves Rocher | ad: Microplastics | Answer Yves Rocher

We have received your inquiry about the presence of liquid microplastics in our products and thank you for your interest in our brand.

Yves Rocher pays special attention to the biodegradability of its washable cleansing and / or foaming products. We have a specialized team that deals with this issue and use a rigorous process to ensure that our products are biologically well degradable.

  • Step 1: We carefully select the ingredients for their biodegradability.
  • Step 2: From these ingredients we develop several product formulas.
  • Step 3: We test each formula variant in the lab and ultimately retain only the formula with the best rating in terms of biodegradability.

If a product does not meet our minimum requirements, development will be stopped.

Since 2016, Yves Rocher has not used "solid microplastic" in its peels and cosmetics that are rinsed or rinsed with water, such as polyethylene particles smaller than 5 mm in size. We have it by exfoliating powder of 100% natural origin, z. B. almond, coconut or apricot seeds replaced.

In "liquid microplastics" there is no official definition that would allow a listing of these ingredients. The BUND is the only one to publish a list that is regularly updated and that in effect includes "bio-degradable liquid polymers". The term "liquid microplastics" is therefore wrongly used and leads to a mixture of two groups of substances that have nothing to do with each other.

The "poorly biodegradable liquid polymers" are used primarily as gelling agents in our cleaning products which are rinsed or rinsed out. They give the product a higher viscosity and stability. For example, we use it in our body scrubs to keep the exfoliating particles in suspension.

Based on the list published by the BUND 2017, only 51 cleaning products that are rinsed or rinsed with water contain such polymers in very small quantities. However, we have tested all these products under strict conditions and they are all readily biodegradable.

At the same time, our experts are investigating natural alternatives with the goal of removing biologically degradable liquid polymers from all of our washable cleaning products by the year 2020. We want to replace them with natural polymer combinations while preserving the effectiveness and quality of our products.

Since its founding, the Yves Rocher brand has been characterized by a continuous improvement process that has made our value chain steadily more sustainable. This process leads our activities, the result of which are products based on the expertise of plant cosmetics and respect for nature and human beings.

We hope that your question has been answered.

Of course you have the opportunity to learn the ingredients, almost all of our products, on the homepage www.yves-rocher.de, and to take them directly from the respective product packaging.

Kind regardsYour Yves Rocher customer service
