Support for 45 projects for more togetherness

"45 years, 45 x doing good" is the motto for the 45th anniversary of dm drogerie markt in Austria. For its birthday dm is starting a new {together} initiative: We are looking for and supporting 45 projects that work for more togetherness in society. Organizations can register until February 14th dm-mitanders.at Sign in.

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, restrictions, renunciation and worries about the future have increasingly led to arguments, to withdrawal, to focus on one's own situation. The lack of social contact hits older people on the one hand and children and young people particularly hard on the other. In the shadow of the pandemic, coexistence often turns into opposition, where cohesion would strengthen many now. Many associations or public offers to promote neighborly and civic engagement had to restrict their activities. Accordingly, new concepts are needed that enable more “togetherness”, even if physical contacts are not yet possible as usual.

Promotion of civic engagement

"At dm we want to promote initiatives that bring people together: people of different geographical and social origins, people with different religions and worldviews, old and young, healthy and sick, people from the middle of society and those who belong to so-called fringe groups", says the managing director Harald Bauer. "We want to bring people into contact with one another so that prejudices can be broken down, so that friendships can develop, so that mutual support and civic engagement can grow."

Organizations and institutions throughout Austria are invited to submit their projects with the stated objectives to dm-mitanders.at. Registration is still possible until February 14th. The selection of the specific projects that are ultimately supported is made by the dm employees of the respective surrounding dm branches.

The {together} initiative was launched for the first time to mark the 40th anniversary of dm Austria: At that time, 40 social and ecological neighborhood projects in all federal states were supported - according to the motto "40 years - 40 good deeds".
