Youtuber Rezo's video "The Destruction of the CDU", published about a year ago, was awarded this year's Nannen Prize for the best web project a few days ago.
In the video, the politics of the CDU (Christian Democratic Union of Germany) is analyzed, clarified and criticized by the then 26-year-old on the basis of a long list of documents. It highlights topics such as the economy and the climate crisis with an overview of striking information. He explains, for example, how the CDU is responsible for the widening gap between rich and poor. Above all, his research on the climate crisis even makes one or two deniers of climate change swallow. He emphasizes the irreversibility of global warming as soon as the 1,5 ° C limit is exceeded. According to thousands of experts, the CDU and SPD's goal of not exceeding this limit through the Paris Agreement will not be achievable with the party's current approach. His prediction that global warming - which was once again felt in April 2020 - will, among other things, lead to the fact that there will be more diseases, seems threateningly realistic for the current corona pandemic.
On the occasion of the 2019 European elections, the Youtuber achieved with his humorous but insistent criticism that a debate was launched a year ago. However, the video continues to be shown in many schools and remains popular - with currently 17 million views on YouTube. The recently awarded Nannen Prize to Rezo has already given rise to criticism - but the content of the video is currently a wake-up call, as the demands of the "Fridays for Future" movement must not be forgotten at these times either. Either way it's something everyone should have seen once, as it will definitely make an impression. For this, Rezo receives the Nannen Prize for the best web project - and rightly so.
