Naturfrisör: Because there is less for head and hair

Forget what your parents have taught you about home care: we shampoo ourselves far too often, Europe's first natural hairstylist Haarmonie is convinced.

Nature hairdresser

"Surfactants are petrochemical byproducts and leave the skin defenseless. Shampoos first cause problems on the scalp
and hair. "
Iris & Ulf Untermaurer, Haarmonie natural hairdresser

How could humanity get along without shampoo for hundreds of thousands of years? A question that is similar to many people now - and for many reasons to use alternatives of conventional products. "More and more people suffer from intolerances and allergies. Our immune system is overloaded. But also general health and environmental protection are becoming more and more important ", explain Iris and Ulf Untermaurer - and they also have to know: The siblings lead Europe's first natural hairstylist" Haarmonie Naturfriseur "- founded 1985, now with four branches in Vienna and one each in Lower Austria and Switzerland, as well as a wholesale trade for specially produced natural cosmetics under the brand name "Herbanima, elixir der natur". The conclusion of decades of experience is a holistic view, said Iris Untermaurer: "Intolerances and allergies are often related to the intestine. That begins with denatured food - if, as today, cheese is often no cheese, sausage is no longer sausage. One should not be surprised if the immune system is no longer clear. "

Back to the roots

The natural hairdresser also shows the actual trend: Actually, it goes back to the roots. For what many have long forgotten: The shampoo was "invented" only in the middle of the last century. Before that, it was rather simple: it was bathed once a week, washed head and hair with ordinary soap, and above all a lot of brushed. This sounds strange to today's state, but if you think about it, your own current body care seems absurd: We use surfactants to wash the body's own fat out of the hair, and then shortly afterwards to grease foreign hair such as hair wax. We use traditional care products with a variety of chemicals and substitutes for substances of concern, whose effects on health and body have not yet been fully elucidated. And: Most consumers have grown up with traditional personal care products, their own washing behavior has never really been questioned. Advertising and marketing suggests that shampoo is a miracle cure. In the process, according to the Untermaurers: "With no shampoo in the world you can wash your hair nicely."

"Most consumers grew up with traditional personal care products and their washing habits were never really questioned."

Less is more

The natural hairstyles go even further: we wash ourselves too often. Actually, similar to tobacco products on many packaging should be the indication: The daily shampooing endangers your health! "In men, hair loss cause # 1 is daily shampooing with too much shampoo, or even worse with shower gel. Less is more. Barely worn laundry, I wash not in the full program, but in the austerity program, "Iris Untermaurer explains. And her brother Ulf: "Surfactants, for example, are petrochemical waste products and leave the skin defenseless. Shampoo abuse causes problems on the scalp and hair. "
Conventional shampoo consists of 20 to 25 percent of surfactants, up to three percent of active ingredients and the balance of water. And the petrochemical waste, which would actually have to be disposed of expensively, would end up costing even more in the so-called care products - and on our heads. Ulf Untermaurer: "The most expensive thing is the packaging. If you look at the ingredients of dishwashing detergent and shampoos: they are almost identical. "
Even natural cosmetics in most cases contain surfactants, but of natural or biological origin - such as sugar or coconut oil. This is more ecological, but the negative effect remains the same. Haarmonie Naturfrisor therefore recommends a more targeted application: Depending on the last hair wash, natural shampoos containing around twelve percent surfactants (all 5-7 days), wash gels with only eight percent (2-3 days) or surfactant-free products such as mineral earth. By the way, this also protects the environment and saves money.

That can be natural hairstyles

Natural hairdressers use only exquisite raw materials of natural origin which guarantee a responsible treatment of humans, animals and the environment and an optimal cosmetic result, such as vegetable dyes (not vegetable colors!), Eg on a henna basis. NoGos are also perm and whitening. Your natural hairdresser should especially advise you on the correct use of care products.

hair coloring
Hair coloring is also possible in a healthy way without hydrogen peroxide. Mostly twelve henna-based shades - from blond to dark brown - are available ready-made or individually mixed. However, the possibilities are limited: dark hair can not be lightened, white or gray hair can be dyed in all nuances. Unlike chemical colorants that penetrate the hair and affect the structure, plant dyes apply only to the hair and strengthen it.

Acid-base balance
Nature conservatories internalize a holistic view. Many hair and scalp problems are caused by acidification of the body. For balance is also worked with nutritional supplements.

Tips from Naturfrisör

Use natural products
We recommend natural and organic cosmetics with a reduced amount of surfactants and no other harmful ingredients. Less is more: the amount of care products should be adapted to actual needs.

Wash rare hair
The frequency of shampooing should be selected as needed. Depending on the care product, shampooing is often sufficient for all 2-3 or even 5-7 days.

Maintain scalp, not hair
Most people wash their hair. However, according to natural hairstyles, surfactants have nothing to look for in length, but should be used specifically on the scalp. When rinsing the shampoo runs over the hair lengths, which is sufficient for cleaning completely.

100 brush strokes daily
Empress Sissi already knew it and should have brushed her hair for an hour a day. Also natural body care begins with brushing. According to Naturfrisör, this is the most effective and cheap way to get a healthy scalp and hair.

Conversion to natural products
By changing away from chemical ingredients, the hair must first change. Above all, silicones, which attach to the hair, need a few weeks to break down. Therefore, the hair is initially a little unruly and needs a lot of love and patience.
