Trump signed a law that turns animal cruelty into a federal crime

CONTRIBUTION IN ORIGINAL LANGUAGE

US President Donald Trump recently passed the PACT law (Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Torture) in the White House. The PACT law made several types of cruelty to animals a federal crime.

Previously, animal fighting and criminalized cruelty to animals was only legally prohibited if videos about it were created and sold. The PACT law now tracks the crushing, burning, drowning, suffocation or skewering of animals or their sexual exploitation with charges of federal crime, fines and up to seven years in prison.
