For more than 20 years the Viennese table an integral part of the city's non-profit map. From the Vienna Wholesale Market, the organization is already supplying around 19.000 people in need with food that is still fit for human consumption. Sustainability and resource conservation are just as much at the center of our commitment as economic efficiency and social responsibility.

Grand TafelHaus opens Wiener Tafel and the Association of Austrian Food Banks have now found a new home. "Another important step has been taken to expand storage capacities and save even more food." The newly created Große TafelHaus at Vienna's wholesale market offers 800 square meters of additional space and includes, among other things, refrigerated and storage rooms as well as offices.

Alexandra Gruber, chairwoman of the Association of Austrian Food Banks and Managing Director of Wiener Tafel: "For us in the association, too, the new location is a central hub for avoiding food waste and for supplying more than 90.000 people in poverty. In times of Covid-19, our mission has become more important than ever! Right now, Austria urgently needs more of these best practice examples of support from politics, business and civil society! "

676.000 kg of food saved the Wiener Tafel in 2019 alone, in the next few years it wants to further expand its presence on the wholesale market, primarily with the adaptation and commissioning of the cold storage areas in the Großer TafelHaus, thereby doubling its commitment.
