Second hand gifts are becoming increasingly popular

A representative survey for Germany by the recommerce company rebuy has brought the following result: “More and more consumers: inside (plus 12 percent in three years) consciously decide to give away used products at Christmas. 42 percent of all respondents named the price advantage as an important reason. The main impetus, however, is the desire for meaningful action: For more than half of all respondents (52,7 percent), sustainable action is the focus. "

Second-hand gifts are particularly popular in the young age group of 20 to 29 year olds. 27,1 percent of young adults give away books. 24,1 percent of this age group put worn clothing under the Christmas tree and 21,1 percent put consumer electronics such as smartphones.

“Every product that is given away as a used product does not have to be purchased again. So that's not only good news for the recipient, but also for the environment. By giving away used products, everyone can actually make a difference in the fight against garbage and thus also make a clear commitment to more sustainability ”, says rebuy CEO Philipp Gattner.
