How Criminal Suspects in Japan are Denied Due Process and Fair Trials

No Description

Japan's "hostage justice" system denies criminal suspects the right to due process and a fair trial. Authorities strip suspects of their right to remain silent, question them without a lawyer, force them to confess through repeated arrests and refusals to bail, and hold them in police stations under constant surveillance for long periods of time. The Japanese government should urgently implement far-reaching reforms, including amending the Criminal Procedure Code, to guarantee detainees their right to a fair trial and make investigators and prosecutors more accountable.

This film tells the story of people who went through the penal system in Japan and were denied a fair trial. You tell us the consequences.
