Greenpeace Germany turns 40! If you want to know how a small citizens' initiative turned into a large environmental movement, then listen to our podcast series “Now even more”.
Our oceans, huge habitats for plants and animals and our greatest ally in the fight against the climate crisis. They take up around 70% of the earth's surface. But despite their size, we have managed to unbalance the oceans. This precious habitat, which is also vital for us humans, is destroyed by our intervention. Overfishing, acidification, pollution by plastic waste, the climate crisis, these are just a few of the factors that pose a threat to our seas.
Because all these dangers would go beyond the scope of this podcast episode, Jörg Feddern and Dr. Thomas Henningsen has a special focus on oil production, oil pollution and industrial overfishing. This also shows why marine protected areas are so vital not only for marine life, but also for us humans.
