Today is a great day ๐ŸŽ‰

The Federal Constitutional Court makes it clear: people have a fundamental right to the future. The federal government must improve the climate protection law. A great success for the freedom rights of future generations ๐Ÿ’šโš–๏ธ

Climate protection can no longer be postponed. To protect our freedom and fundamental rights, the federal government must act now and improve climate protection. Non-binding statements are not enough for this. The federal government must present a roadmap. It must adapt its climate protection law to the 31 degree limit of the Paris Agreement by December 2022, 1,5 and present a roadmap on how it will reduce emissions to zero.

The Federal Constitutional Court confirms: People have a right to the future. For the first time, the Basic Law is interpreted in a generation-appropriate manner. This is a victory for the younger generation.

In its judgment, the Federal Constitutional Court had summarized a total of four constitutional complaints brought against the Climate Protection Act since 2018. Since only individuals can sue for civil liberties, various environmental protection associations supported various people in their lawsuits. Greenpeace also helped nine young people to file constitutional complaints on February 20, 2020. Among them are Sophie Backsen and @luisaneubauer from @ fridaysforfuture.de.

Now there are no more excuses ๐Ÿ’š All parties running in the federal elections must make their plans for climate protection transparent. We will remind you of this ๐Ÿ‘
