Use advertising displays – best practice

The successful use of advertising displays requires careful planning and implementation. There are a number of things that optimize the use of advertising displays. But what should you pay particular attention to and what types of advertising displays are there?

Advertising display types

There are different Types of advertising displays, which can fulfill different functions depending on the intended use, location and target group:

  • Customer stopper: Also known as A-board, sidewalk display or sandwich board. This type of advertising display consists of a folding frame that is equipped with advertising posters or boards.
  • Banner Stands: Banner stands are portable advertising displays that consist of a sturdy stand and a vertical frame to which a printed banner or graphic is attached.
  • Information stand: This type of advertising display is often equipped with holders for brochures, flyers or information material.
  • Information steles: Information steles are free-standing, vertical advertising displays that are usually made of aluminum or stainless steel and can be equipped with printed graphics or screens.
  • Customer guidance systems: Customer guidance systems are advertising displays that are used to show customers the way and guide them through a specific room or area. They can consist of various elements such as signposts, stand displays or floor markings and are often used in shopping centers, airports or event venues.
  • Advertising displays with digital signage: These modern advertising displays integrate digital screens or monitors to display dynamic content such as videos, animations or interactive elements.

Use advertising displays correctly

You start with a thorough analysis of the target group to understand their needs, preferences and behaviors. This helps to tailor advertising displays to the interests of the target group and to ensure effective communication.

Then you choose strategic locations for the advertising displays where they can be easily seen by the target group. Factors such as traffic, buildings, visibility and the potential target group in the area must be taken into account.

The advertising display should be attractive and eye-catching in order to attract the attention of viewers. Clear messages, attractive graphics and bold colors are suitable to effectively convey the desired message. You should always ensure that the design of the advertising display is consistent with the brand identity. Using your logo, your own colors and branding helps to promote recognition and strengthen the connection to the brand.

By adding a clear call-to-action that encourages viewers to take a specific action, such as making a purchase or signing up for more information, the display can be further optimized.

The right placement makes the difference

The placement of advertising displays is crucial to their effectiveness and reach. It is not only important whether the display is located, for example, in the entrance area or in front of a shop in the pedestrian zone. Ideally, it is aligned against the direction of potential customers. This means that people walk towards the stand and have it in their field of vision for a long time.

Information boards and similar advertising materials should be placed at eye level and directly next to an advertised product in order to immediately attract attention. This creates a strong recognition effect and means that the first contact with the advertising material and the real product follow one another immediately. This creates the feeling of already knowing the product being advertised.

While it is important that the advertising blends well with the surroundings, it should not blend in too much with the surroundings. A simple way to attract attention without disrupting the overall picture is to use contrast. Adjacent colors create visual contrast without being a distracting element. For example, if the environment is predominantly green, a yellow advertisement can attract enough attention without detracting from the overall image.
