Short break in Bavaria

The yearning for ice-blue water, breathtaking nature, sun and relaxation suddenly takes hold of you. Going away spontaneously is not possible - too expensive, too spontaneous and too stressful. But where could you make such a short-term and reasonably eco-friendly holiday?

Die Antwort: in the south of Bavaria!

By train / car from Munich many lakes are only an hour away, such as the Tegernsee. A possible route with the van through the south of Bavaria: from the hike on the Tegernsee via a toll road into the nature reserve, a few stops in the ice-blue waters of the Sylvensteinsee, an overnight stay directly at the waters of the Walchensee and a day's swimming at the Kochel am See.

Tegernsee

If you drive by car, you can park a bit off in Egern and then take a leisurely stroll along the lake to the dreamy, traditional village.

Next to the lake there are beautiful buildings that are framed by small hills and remind you of Teletubbyland. This is a great place for hiking, especially outside the main season. Those who do not want to be among the early risers on holiday may be available for some tips from the "Hiking for late risers" book. Among other things, you will find a 3-hour hike to the Riederstein, This hike promises both a great view over the city and the Tegernsee, as well as a leisurely tour through the forest.

At the top of the Riederstein and a little out of breath you can enjoy the view on a bench. The small chapel doesn't leave much space for hikers and this quickly leads to a conversation, for example with a lady who unpacked her snack upstairs and said: "Well, I've really been to many places in the world, but this view remains my favorite" . Understandable if you looked around ...

Sylvensteinsee

On the way to Walchensee there is a beautiful route along the toll road. There you will find ice-blue waters, such as the Sylvensteinsee, where you can see at most one person with the rowboat in the middle. Otherwise there is absolute silence here. But beware of the campers: here is overnight stay prohibited.

Walchensee

Again, there are wonderful walks around the lake, which fortunately are not accessible by car. At the large campsite at Walchensee there are also beautiful jogging or walk routes, which can be tolerated particularly well in mild temperatures.

Kochel on the lake

This lake is not quite as turquoise at most places as the Walchen or Sylvensteinsee, but here is also a bathing day absolutely recommendable. What was particularly positive was the Edeka Wilinski next to downtown Kochel am See, the almost sold exclusively packaging-free vegetables.
