The Schönbächler family cultivates 12 hectares of land in idyllic Rickenbach and relies on both conventional and regenerative agriculture.

The principle of mob grazing: cows graze in a confined space and only for a short time. Due to the long rest period of 20 - 30 days, the grass regenerates and has enough leaf surface and time to store a lot of carbon in its root system and via the soil organisms in the soil. The humus content increases and with it the water holding capacity of the soil. The high stocking also reduces water evaporation.
"We are trying out the approaches of regenerative agriculture and realizing that there is enormous potential!"

Targeted humus build-up and thus storage of CO2 in the soil over a longer period of time. We thus promote soil life, benefit from better soils and thereby preserve biodiversity. And this with roughly the same yield.

The nutrient cycles should be closed more and more over time. The approaches of regenerative agriculture are to be implemented. Consumers should be better informed about what we do in agriculture.
