The Voluntary Environment Year (FUJ) is publicly supported and offers young people the opportunity to live out their commitment to climate and environmental protection. Interested parties can actively provide support for up to twelve months in the following subject areas:
- Environmental protection and environmental education
- Nature and species protection
- Organic farming and animal welfare
- Development Cooperation
- Renewable energy
Various national and nature parks, organizations such as the Climate Alliance or Friends of Nature, the TierQuartier Vienna or the Vegan Society Austria are available as locations.
For the 6 to 12 months in the field, the participants are insured against accidents, health, pension and liability. Meals, pocket money and reimbursement of travel expenses are covered. From a duration of 10 months, the voluntary environmental year can also be counted as a replacement for community service.
