GLOBAL 2000: Agnes Zauner is the new managing director

The Austrian Environmental protection organization GLOBAL 2000 has a new managing director: Agnes Zauner (30). Before working in Berlin, Zauner worked as a political advisor for the Austrian OSCE Chairmanship at the Austrian Embassy in Kiev. Her diploma studies took Zauner through half of Europe: in Vienna she focused on international development, in Warsaw on international politics and human rights and in Berlin and Novosibirsk on political relations, the EU and Eastern Europe. Growing up in an ecologically committed family, they have accompanied environmental policy issues throughout their lives.

Together with the economic director René Fischer, Zauner is now going to be national - and international about the Friends of the Earth Network - use more for climate and environmental protection. Because of her career, she will put her personal focus on trade and democratic issues that affect all areas of environmental protection. Together with the well-coordinated campaign and project teams from GLOBAL 2000 and in cooperation with politics and business, Zauner will use all of its strength to contain the climate crisis and the ongoing extinction of species and to further strengthen the role of civil society.

“Economic agreements like TTIP and MERCOSUR still rely on destroyed rainforests for cheap meat and on the massive use of pesticides in our goods and food chains. We finally want to initiate a real turnaround. We need an economy that is not based on the exploitation of our planet, but one that guarantees sustainable agriculture and the preservation of biodiversity. Only with resolute political decisions can we face the great challenges of our time, above all the global climate crisis, ”emphasizes Zauner.
