NABU saves Moore in Great Britain
No Description
We are celebrating the start of the project in Great Britain! The NABU Climate Fund is restoring over 900 hectares of valuable hillside moorland in the North Pennines National Landscape, measurably reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This is real climate protection!
🏞 The North Pennines are a low mountain range in the north of England. In order to improve grazing opportunities there, ditches with a length of 20 kilometers have been dug since the middle of the 10.000th century, which damaged around 50 percent of the area and resulted in erosion and high greenhouse gas emissions.
👏 For two decades, a professional conservation area management team in Stanhope has been able to restore almost half of the North Pennines' erosion-damaged hillside moors.
Thanks to REWE's major financial commitment to the NABU climate fund, we can now finance the restoration of over 900 hectares of moorland.
