With their wide mouths and muscular bodies, hippos are perfectly adapted to life in the water. They seem to move through the water weightlessly and their agility will surprise you! 🏊‍♀️🔥

But they are not only strong #swimmers, but also masters of #camouflage. Their gray-brown skin makes them almost invisible as they move through the riparian vegetation. 🌿🧡

Hippos are also very social animals. In groups of up to 30 members, called hippopotamus families, they search for food together and protect each other. 🤝💚

Their loud #roaring calls serve communication and strengthen social bonds within the group. Listen to this! 🗣️🎶

Unfortunately, hippos are critically endangered. Habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade threaten their survival. 😢🚫
