What the #Women's Day must be said again: #Poverty is #Female: The effects of poverty are particularly devastating in rural areas of the global south. Two thirds of all people worldwide who cannot read and write are women and, due to a lack of schooling, are not suitable for qualified jobs. Gender discrimination, poor health and safety, and low wages are some of the problems women face in these countries.
One way to do something is to buy Fairtrade products. Producers and consumers can work together to strengthen women's rights.
