GAP stands for the EU's Common Agricultural Policy. The largest budget item in the EU is spent on agricultural subsidies. In Austria, around 1,8 billion euros of public funds flow into agriculture every year via the CAP. The new CAP funding period will start in 2023. Climate and environmental protection play a subordinate role in the Austrian CAP strategic plan, although agriculture has great potential in overcoming the climate crisis. At "Mind the GAP" lectures, workshops and a panel discussion will deal with the content of the CAP and the question of whether we can achieve the central goals of the European Green Deal with the national CAP strategic plan.
