Livestream: 50 years of Greenpeace - Hope in Action
On September 15, 1971, a small group of activists set out in the converted fishing cutter “Phyllis Cormack” in Vancouver, Canada, to the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska to prevent a planned US nuclear test. From this daring action, one of the largest environmental organizations in the world emerged.
We will celebrate the birth of Greenpeace as an international organization on August 30th at 19.00:XNUMX p.m. with an evening event in the Ozeaneum in Stralsund. On this occasion, Chancellor Angela Merkel will give the keynote address and the Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Manuela Schwesig, will give a welcoming address.
After the speeches we discuss the question "Climate, nature, people: what has to change so that something finally changes?"
Jennifer Morgan, Baro Gabbert, Britta Steffen and Prof. Harald Welzer will discuss on the podium. The evening will be moderated by Ronja Hallerbach.
The whole event is also accessible in sign language and with German subtitles: https://bit.ly/50GPIVerbaV
