The textile factory Rana Plaza in Bangladesh collapsed 7 years ago today. 2.000 people were injured and a further 1.100 workers were killed. If our clothing could tell the story of its creation, it would usually be a very tragic one. Although after the accident there was a broad consensus between countless companies and governments to change the situation in the textile industry, the situation is currently worsening. Poor working conditions and violations of human rights are the norm. Right now, in times of Corona, they face additional challenges. Textile production in Asia is largely at a standstill. Producers in the Global South are endangered both by the slump in the economy in their own country and in Germany.
We demand a safe, fair, transparent and environmentally friendly fashion industry!
