BACKGROUND:
According to the latest reports, another 48 members of predominantly Muslim communities are being held in Xinjiang. They are either in detention camps or in prisons after being sentenced to prison terms without fair trials.
Amnesty International included her in the Free Xinjiang Detainees campaign, which now has a total of 126 people. Overall, it is estimated that more than a million people have been detained in this region since 2017. The Chinese government is deliberately taking action against Uyghurs, Kazakhs and other members of predominantly Muslim minorities in Xinjiang, including mass arrests, torture and other ill-treatment. Chinese authorities must immediately release anyone arbitrarily detained in detention centers or prisons in Xinjiang.
