🎯 Fact check supply chain laws

A supply chain law is intended to ensure that companies examine their supply chains and tackle problems such as exploitative child labour.

Far-sighted companies have long recognized the benefits of knowing their supply chains well and are investing in this area. It will be relatively easy for them to meet the requirements of a supply chain law. The safety and quality of purchased products is already agreed and checked in detail with suppliers by all companies. Risk management systems are now to be expanded to include environmental and human rights protection.

Consumers have a right to know where and under what conditions products are manufactured and what companies are doing to remedy grievances. That is why public reports are necessary. The European Commission's draft provides for state support for smaller companies in the initial phase, so that they can start the process well.
