Owls have their home in many forests. Also in the boreal forests of Finland.

Characteristics: The Little Owl is the largest species of chick ever and with a wingspan of 140-150 meters almost as big as an eagle owl. It lives in northern Scandinavia, northern Russia and northern North America in dense old spruce, pine and birch forests with adjacent open-land areas and enough old birds of prey. His prey consists mainly of different types of mice. In good mouse years, the settlement density is no more than 9 breeding pairs on 100 km².

He is threatened by the global warming and habitat loss by the forest industry, which takes him by the removal of the old and broken trees, the breeding opportunities. Also collisions in the traffic and with power lines are a danger. In addition, bearded owls are susceptible to the West Nile virus.
