The horror notion: what happens when a machine becomes more intelligent than humans? Director Alex Garland also plays with this idea in his feature film "Ex Machina" from 2015.

The Oscar-winning film is about a web programmer, Caleb, who is chosen by a large company called "Bluebook" to spend a week away from civilization with the company's CEO, Nathan. This week, Caleb will use the Turing test to test the latest and secret experiment of the highly intelligent, megalomania-driven company founder. This is Ava, a female machine designed to have human consciousness through artificial intelligence. It is equipped with skills such as self-awareness, imagination, sexuality, empathy and possibly also manipulation. In this test, not only the viewer, but also Caleb loses the overview between human and machine action.

A certain skepticism towards artificial intelligence is confirmed by films like this and further questions and necessary discussion points arise. The use of artificial intelligence is no longer a question of yes or no, because it is already part of our everyday life - whether in public transport, in industry or in our own four walls with "Alexa" and "Siri". The real future questions are rather: how far will people go with artificial intelligence? When is the limit reached? And who will set this limit?
