CONTRIBUTION IN ORIGINAL LANGUAGE

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed a new policy for lending in the energy sector that has greater ambitions in climate protection: "After a long discussion, we have reached a compromise to fund projects with unchecked fossil fuels, including natural gas, from the End of 2005 by the EU bank in late 2021, ”said Andrew McDowell, EIB Vice President for Energy.

In 2013, the EIB decided to end financing coal and lignite power generation by adopting a stringent emissions performance standard.

In addition, between 2021 and 2030, the EIB Group would like to support investments of EUR 1 trillion for climate protection and environmental sustainability.

New funding of EUR 1,5 billion supports projects in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency around the world, including the support of new wind farms in Austria and Lebanon, 15 new solar power plants all over Spain and small climate protection projects and projects in Renewable energy sector in France, Kazakhstan, South Caucasus, Latin America and Africa.
