The old imperial city of Gondar is surrounded by a 900-meter-long city wall and is known for its numerous historic palaces, buildings and monasteries. The palace district of Fasil Ghebbi was the seat of the former Ethiopian emperor Fasilides and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There are numerous legends and legends surrounding the former capital of Ethiopia. One of them says that Emperor Fasilides followed a buffalo to a waterhole in the Ethiopian highlands, where he met a hermit who advised him to found a town here.
