4 continents, 13 countries, 22 indigenous societies: Greenpeace photographer Markus Mauthe documented the everyday life of the Awá, one of 320 populations in the Amazon region, for its new photography project. For centuries, the indigenous people have lived with and from what the forest provides. The changes began in the 1970 years with the construction of a railway line through their country. Less than a kilometer from their village, hundreds of trains loaded with iron ore thunder every day and bring new settlers with them. Exciting and visually rich, Markus Mauthe tells in his new live reportage about the life of the Awá and other indigenous ethnic groups on the margins of the globalized world.
