🌐 November 20th is International Children's Day - the day the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was passed in 1989.

👶 FAIRTRADE is part of the "Stop Child Labor" initiative together with the Dreikönigsaktion of the Catholic Jungeschar.

💬 FAIRTRADE Austria – Managing Director Hartwig Kirner:
“According to a recent study, there are at least 1,5 million children in Ghana and Ivory Coast who have to work in the cocoa industry instead of going to school. We all have to change that together and we should think about this especially during the Advent season, when a lot of chocolate is bought and given away.”

We need a legal framework that protects the rights of all children and a big step in this direction would be a Supply Chain Act - to ensure companies screen their supply chains and address issues such as exploitative child labour.
