Hungary is taking sensational measures in the fight against the corona virus: with a two-thirds majority, Parliament has passed the authorization law presented by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. It enables the Prime Minister to rule for an unlimited period by decree and thus without parliamentary participation.
During a conversation with the Karl Renner Institute the contents and background of this law as well as the motives of Viktor Orbán are to be examined. What about democracy and fundamental freedoms in our neighboring country? How can or should the EU respond to Hungary's worrying steps?
