Before the Christmas junk shopping frenzy starts, it is certainly good to know that there are also simple, cheap and sustainable alternatives for a tasteful, Christmas decoration.

Zero-waste decoration tips: 

1. Fresh from nature: In parks and in the nearby forest are currently several branches with berries, fir branches and pine cones on the ground, which can be wonderfully used as a Christmas decoration. These can be decorated on the table, in a bowl or a vase.

Tip: Who is creative and artistic, the pine cones can also paint a little gold.

2. lights: Christmas time is known for a warm, cozy candlelight. However, candles are often harmful to the environment since oil is needed for production. This can be prevented by LED lights, which can be reused, or by organic candles, which are made from local vegetable oils.

3. Christmas spices: Anyone who makes himself a mulled wine certainly has cloves, cinnamon sticks or anise home. These can be easily decorated in bowls and spread a nice Christmas aroma in the air. After Christmas, you can be back in the spice drawer and overcooked.

4. Oranges decoration: Oranges can be used in many ways. The classic: carnations that are put into oranges in beautiful patterns and spread a great fragrance. However, oranges can also be sliced ​​and placed in the oven at 170 ° C for about five hours until dried. They also have to be turned over. The dried orange slices can then either be hung or simply decorated in a bowl.

Tip: so that the oranges alone do not waste so much energy, cookies or other delicacies can also be baked in the oven.

5. Borrow: If you do not want to get dressed up for the few weeks of Christmas, you can just ask the family or the neighbors - 100% has tons of decorations that are not used / missed when they are borrowed or given away.

6. Recycled paper: If you have children or you like to make a little bit, you can make the classic paper stars yourself. Best also from recycled paper!
