Seabins are being installed at harbors and marinas across the planet with the simple task of cleaning up garbage and possibly oil floating in the water. CNET met up with Seabin Project CEO Pete Ceglinski during an installation in Alameda, California, to see one in action.

Die Australier Andrew Turton und Pete Ceglinski haben einen Eimer entwickelt, der knapp unter der Wasseroberfläche schwebt und durch einen Sog Abfall aus dem Wasser anzieht. Der Müll wird in dem Kübel in einem Netz gesammelt, während das Wasser durch das Netz wieder abfließen kann. Auch ein Ölfilter ist in dem System integriert. Das Seabin Project konnte mittels Crowdfunding finanziert werden.
