To jump into the ice-cold Spree for climate protection? No problem! Today, about a hundred young people went swimming in front of the Berlin Reichstag and demanded from the federal government: "Do not let our future drown".

From the Schiffbauerdamm near the station Friedrichstrasse they swam a few hundred meters to the Reichstag building. One of them is Jonathan: "The longer the Federal Government blocks effective climate protection, the drastic the consequences for the next generation".

The carbon leakage is necessary: If Germany wants to reach the climate protection targets agreed in Paris, the country has to get out of coal energy, as fast as possible. This is the only way to save a large part of the carbon dioxide emissions that are responsible for the increasing global warming. The intention of the international contractors is to stabilize global warming at a maximum of 1,5 degrees Celsius, the benchmark is the global temperature before industrialization. Otherwise, there are serious, irreversible consequences for the global climate: rising sea levels, devastation, extreme weather. Instead, however, energetically, the federal government is talkative and has launched a coal commission to life. It should clarify how the German energy supply works without coal-fired power plants.
