When we began our work on #DeathPenalty in 1977, only 16 countries had fully abolished it.

In 2022, we had the highest number of global executions since 2017 and a 53% increase since 2021, while six more countries fully or partially abolished the death penalty.

When we began our work on the #death penalty in 1977, only 16 countries had abolished it completely. Today, 112 countries put an end to this cruel punishment.

We must continue to put pressure on those responsible for these blatant human rights abuses and call on the authorities to bring justice, not the people.
