Hi! Welcome back to Planeta G Season 2 as we tell the true stories of powerful Latinx/Latin activists and farmhands fighting for their communities in California. In tonight's episode, Valentina talks to two incredible farm workers and organizers about the history and current struggles of the farm workers' movement in California.

Born in Brownsville, Texas, Lupe Martinez moved to California with his family in 1964 to work in the fields of the San Joaquin Valley. While working in the grape fields in Ducor, Lupe met several United Farm Workers organizers, including César Chávez. He has dedicated his life to working with the Union and the Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment.

Maria Salinas is a Chatina woman and farm worker living in Sonoma County, California. Maria is a leader in the Movimiento Cultural de la Union Indigena campaign, where she organizes indigenous gatherings to celebrate dance, culture and food. Originally from Cerro del Aire, Santo Reyes Nopala in southern Oaxaca, she works with North Bay Jobs with Justice to fight for her community. She also offers interpretation between Chatina language and Spanish.
