Biodiversity Week: A special kind of nature experience

Next week it will be that time again: From May 13th to 24th, the biodiversity week invites you to a colorful program of events throughout Austria. Anyone who walks through nature with particularly vigilant eyes and takes part in the biodiversity contest during this period can win great prizes!

Whether it's an adventurous excursion or an interesting webinar - from May 13th, the diversity of nature can be experienced up close again! More than 150 events throughout Austria offer exciting insights into the local flora and fauna. From bird concerts to fossil hunting and wild herb hikes to animal puzzle tours - all this and much more awaits young and old at this year's biodiversity week. A large number of the events are also accessible online.

Nothing is as exciting as immersing yourself in the world of animals and plants

Numerous partner organizations are involved in the week of events organized by the Naturschutzbund and offer exciting excursions, guided tours, online events and webinars where you can get to know the biodiversity. “You will be amazed at what nature has in store for you!” Says Naturschutzbund managing director Birgit Mair-Markart, enthusiastic about the wide range of offers. The diverse calendar of events for young and old can be found here.

Biodiversity Contest: Exploring nature for everyone

Whether at one of the events or on your own in nature: From May 13th to 24th, the Naturschutzbund calls for participants to take part in the biodiversity contest. It's very easy, because diversity can be experienced everywhere. Anyone who discovers a ladybird on the balcony, a peacock butterfly in the garden or a marsh marigold in the forest and shares their observations on www.naturbeobachtung.at or the app of the same name can win great identification aids. The most outstanding photo will be awarded with an exciting excursion with a respected biodiversity researcher.
