The U.S. authorities should take bold steps to combat structural racism that is leading to mass protests across the country, Human Rights Watch said today.
National, state, and local governments should take and enforce sensible police accountability measures, dramatically reduce unnecessary arrests, and end police operations to tackle poverty and health-related social problems that are disproportionately targeted at black and brown people. Instead, they should invest in real support for needy communities and programs to address long-term structural racism in various areas such as health and education.

Access to safe and affordable water is vital for human health and for following basic recommendations from US health care professionals about proper hand hygiene to prevent Covid-19 infection.
