The aim and purpose of the Association for Housing Development (vwbf) is to promote the non-profit housing industry. Non-profit housing is one of the main pillars of a welfare-oriented housing system. It is a fundamental foundation of a welfare state oriented towards social cohesion in Austria and is open to broad sections of the population.
As the third sector between market economy orientation and public supply, it provides ...
- his socially-bound housing stock,
- its long-term, non-speculative and resident-oriented management,
- its cheap rent structure as well
- its leading position in ecological and energy-efficient construction and renovation
... represent an economic counter-model geared towards sustainability to the private residential real estate sector, which is aimed at short-term profit maximization.
A sector encompassing 700.000 not-for-profit apartments, which not only makes a decisive contribution to social cohesion and balance and economic stability, but also leads the way in innovative housing projects based on ecological and energy efficiency as well as co-operation partners of municipalities and social organizations in the implementation of socially responsible projects.
The task of the Association for Housing Development is to communicate this internationally acclaimed Austrian way of not-for-profit housing as a best-practice model and to introduce the economic and social added value as a unique selling point into public discourse.
