The vaccination product

Helmut Melzer

We live in a capitalist world. Almost everything is now a product. Even water, according to the Nestle group some time ago, is not a human right, but a product. Animals are kept in torture here, too, for absurdly cheap meat. Newly cultivated fruit and vegetables should be able to be patented, this is the dearest wish of some corporations. Beautiful new world.

Not vaccination but product criticism

It's not much different with the corona vaccination, it too is simply a product. But unfortunately now a damn bad one. And here we are with the big misunderstanding: Personally, I can definitely gain something from a - voluntary - vaccination strategy, but please with an extensively tested, actually well-tolerated and effective vaccine.

Unfortunately, one thing is certain: the booster vaccination only has OFF-LABEL approval, for which you even have to sign a disclaimer. Although, according to the general legal opinion, the manufacturer is liable if a person is killed or seriously injured while using the drug as intended. And the latter is likely to increase, even if the lack of transparency in this regard leaves many questions unanswered. And the effectiveness is also disappointing: even those who have been vaccinated three times become infected, infect others and also suffer from symptoms. Omikron shouldn't have any serious problems. In any case, one thing is certain for me: a great product looks different.

The manipulative indications regarding vaccination coverage from the ORF and the ministry cannot hide the quality defects either: because the number of vaccinated people is shown again and again, currently at 76 percent, but not that of third-party vaccinated people, which only make up 52,2 percent. In short, this seems to confirm: The vaccination product is currently becoming a slow seller.

Error in fall strategy

Nevertheless, the now mandatory vaccination strategy continues. The legitimate argument: A new mutation in the fall could make the situation significantly worse. Away from scaremongering and questionable “what ifs”: This is not a completely finished thought. However, it was completely forgotten that the current vaccination will at best show little effectiveness in the event of a future mutation. As a result, a strengthening of the health system would probably be more appropriate as preparation for the next Corona season.

But what is just not possible: forced happiness including a disclaimer with a poor-quality product. Because, and we also know this from the less and less regulated market: a lousy product will not be bought. And also not elected.
