The importance of the US Supreme Court

CONTRIBUTION IN ORIGINAL LANGUAGE

Hello again,

And to begin with, I have a question for you: Have you ever heard of the US Supreme Court? Well, I had only done it at the end of September when one of the court judges, the wonderful Ruth Bader Ginsburg, died. This event was in the news all over the world. If you want to learn more, read on and learn more about the importance of the Supreme Court in the United States.

The Supreme Court often has the final say in disputed cases and in cases between the governments of the 50 states in the United States. In general, the Supreme Court is the highest body of US law. A few years ago the Supreme Court decided to allow same-sex marriages in all 50 states. In only a few cases was this possible until the court established the same rule for everyone. In the end, the Supreme Court had the final say in this controversy.

Now one of the judges, Ruth Ginsburg, has died and it is necessary to replace her in court, which is an important task for the President. Since the Supreme Court has tremendous power in America, the appointment of the next judiciary should be well thought out. It shouldn't be that easy because of the presidential election, despite the fact that current President Donald Trump has already nominated Amy Coney Barrett, a Conservative, as successive justice. Many people in the US think that replacing Ginsburg, who was a Liberal, with a Conservative shows a terrible attitude towards Trump. It is also because Joe Biden, the second candidate for the election, would replace her with another Liberal to keep the balance. As you can see, Ginsburg's death sparked a huge debate among Americans.

Liberals and Conservatives are really different, which is why it's important to keep the balance between them in the Supreme Court. Let's say there's a really tough case going on in Atlanta and the judges have no idea what to do with the defendant. So you will check whether there has been such a case before the Supreme Court and how the court decided. Conservatives will always tend to resolve the case the same way as the court, because they believe that traditions are usually better than new ideas and practices. Liberals, on the other hand, will set the precedent - with video, but they will try to find a new solution because they are more progressive on their values.
It is precisely because of these two facts that it is crucial to maintain a balance between liberals and conservatives in the Supreme Court.

I think you can see that the Supreme Court is a really important institution in the US, and I think it's really important to replace Ginsburg well. Now I am interested in your opinion. Do you think Ginsburg should be replaced before or after the election? Write it down in the comments below!
