Spring: seasonal vegetables from Germany

The weekly markets that have gone into hibernation are now slowly opening their gates again - it's spring! In March and April not so much fresh vegetables grow and most of the groceries on the market are still in stock. These include, for example, leeks, beetroot, carrots or apples that are still left over from autumn.

Savingsl & spinach

If you want to consume vegetables with a clear conscience, come from Germany and have traveled a short distance, or simply want to eat delicious vegetables in a "selfish" way that tastes as they should because they grow when they are supposed to - you can go with asparagus and spinach stock up.

The popular asparagus season begins in April: asparagus soups, asparagus with Frankfurt green sauce, asparagus with a creamy hollandaise sauce or an asparagus smoothie provide many different scents (some more pleasant than others). Nevertheless, the green or white stalks are rich in vitamins and fiber and very healthy for humans.

Spinach is also a real spring vegetable that grows regionally from March to May. Popeye already showed that spinach makes you strong because he has the Supports muscle building through the many vitamins, magnesium, zinc and iron. It can best be eaten as a salad, in a pan or in a casserole.

In late spring, many more delicious vegetables and fruits, such as strawberries, lamb's lettuce, arugula, grow. Here are some links for information on seasonal and regional vegetables and fruits from Germany:
