A little ray of hope: the environment is happy

The world stands still and it is a particularly challenging time for everyone. Covid 19 has catapulted us into an exceptional situation globally.

But the pandemic has at least one positive effect: the CO2 pollution in the air has decreased rapidly and to a considerable extent. This is shown by satellite images from NASA and the European space agency Esa. The pictures show the Covid region of origin Wuhan in China. NASA spoke of a 2 to 10 percent reduction in CO30 emissions compared to previous years.

Meanwhile, air traffic has virtually come to a standstill worldwide and home office saves commuting - we know the current situation ... In any case, the “forced break” we are in also means a break for the environment. Experts are surprised that this happens so quickly. "This is the first time that I have seen such a dramatic decline over such a large area due to a specific event," said Nasa scientist Fei Liu.
