Cookbook with grandma's recipes: "Our culinary heritage"

Nobody can cook as well as grandma: a delicious meal with her tastes better than anywhere else. Unfortunately, the wonderful recipes of this generation are often lost - nobody wrote them down. With the cookbook: "Our culinary heritage - favorite recipes of our grandparents' generation" valuable recipes are immortalized and made accessible to younger generations.

Issues that concern people today, such as sustainability and regionalism in the area of food consumption, are a matter of course for many older generations. They know how to handle food without ever throwing it away, they can cook deliciously without mangoes and avocados and they rely on simple, regional cuisine. You usually know first-hand that these dishes also taste good.

For the cookbook, the authors Manuela Rehn and Jörg Reuter went on a trip across Germany to capture the regional recipes of our grandparents' generation. From "chicken fricassee with raisins" to "cucumbers" to "apple in a dressing gown" you will find everything that makes your heart beat faster. But the book consists of much more than just a collection of recipes: there are always stories of old people on the pages that come into conversation with the authors and various chefs on site. The cookbook is also supposed to be a wake-up call, like "we can meet a generation of people in retirement homes with more culinary respect". Too often, food is viewed there as a cost factor and not as an emotional reminder and a means of communication.

The book project was supported by the Coop - (Switzerland-) Fund, one of the most sustainable trading companies in the world, for sustainability and by Transgourmet Germany enables. With this support, they not only reach many people with tips in the area of food consumption, but also set an important signal for the generation of our grandparents, so that these people, with their history, their traditions and their views, are not forgotten by their recipes.
