Our meat consumption is destroying their homeland. Many farmers in Paraguay are losing their land to the soy industry. But with our Mate project we can now give people in the countryside a future and at the same time create new forests.

The Atlantic rainforest was once considered the most biodiverse forest on earth. But in the last few decades it has increasingly had to give way to agriculture. The reason: Our hunger for #meat and #milk. Soy is now grown by the hectare where there was once a forest. That ends up mainly in feed troughs, also here in Germany.

With the Mate project we want to protect farmers in Paraguay from having to sell their land to the soy industry and at the same time create new forest. You can find out how it all works in the video.

The goal of the WWF is clear: If we can permanently preserve the greatest possible variety of habitats, we can also save a large part of the world's animal and plant species - and at the same time preserve the network of life that we too Carries people.
