Democratic Republic of the Congo authorities have made no apparent progress in investigating the September 2020 prison riot at the Kasapa Central Prison in Lubumbashi, Human Rights Watch said. For three days, inmates repeatedly raped several dozen female inmates, including a teenage girl.

Authorities should provide the survivors with adequate medical care and psychological support. You should investigate the incident in a credible and impartial manner, including officials who ignored repeated warnings of the impending insurgency and prosecute those responsible for the abuse fairly.
