RepaNews - repair bonus in Austria - from the state to the federal government
What is the current status of the repair bonus in Austria? Find out more about this from RepaNews spokeswoman Irene Schanda. After the successful funding mod ...
For some time now, RepaNet has been demanding the nationwide implementation of a repair bonus. On May 20, the National Council voted unanimously in favor of funding repair services for electrical and electronic equipment throughout Austria (to the press release). Astrid Rössler (Greens) stated that the repair bonus only meant a first step. In particular, a more intelligent and efficient product design is necessary. As a third step, she named a corresponding promotion of research and development in the interests of longer product use and strengthening the circular economy. This is in the interests of climate protection and lower energy consumption.
Expansion to additional product groups and promotion of socio-economic re-use companies necessary
RepaNet welcomes the introduction of a nationwide repair bonus. We definitely see the future expansion of electronic (electronic) devices to all other product groups as a further necessity. In addition, it is essential that an equivalent subsidy is introduced and implemented for the socio-economic re-use companies, as this also enables longer product use and the creation of jobs - the latter for particularly disadvantaged people - through the sale of used goods from donations in kind and recycling centers contribute. In our market survey, the performance of the social economy in the re-use area is listed and analyzed every year (for the re-use market survey 2019).
The socio-economic companies support precisely those people who have recently lost their jobs due to the Corona crisis with qualification and socio-educational support when re-entering the labor market. They make a significant contribution to providing the circular economy, which is currently being established, with the necessary trained workforce. Because the circular economy, which aims to maintain the value of consumer products and infrastructure for as long as possible, requires significantly more trained workers than the linear throw-away economy.
